Pre-nuptial Agreements - is it time they were recognised?
The press has been full of reports that the marriage of the Chelsea football club owner Roman Abramovich marriage is over.
If that's correct, his wife Irina, the mother of his five children, could be looking at a settlement that would dwarf anything yet seen in the divorce courts.
But could Mr Abramovich have protected his estimated £11 billion fortune if he and his wife had entered into a pre-nuptial agreement when he was still a struggling businessman?
We're far too discreet to pry into the Abramovich marriage but, under our current law, there is no guarantee that any pre nuptial agreement would be seen as binding by our courts.
Is it time that they were? We speak to leading divorce lawyers Mark Harper and Marilyn Stowe.
