Robin Charrot has joined from Channel Islands practice Carey Olsen.
Stowe Family Law, which is based in Harrogate, opened its office in Hale at the end of May, handling divorce cases involving assets from £500,000 to £100m.
Boss Marilyn Stowe said that the new branch had so far beaten her expectations, adding that the credit crunch was a factor.
It has led to a rise in the number of defended divorce cases, with some people refusing to agree to a split because they think they will lose out financially.
Others believe it is a good time to part with their spouses because they are worth less that they were a year ago, and therefore their settlements will be lower.
Stowe Family Law is also seeing more and more international and ex-pat clients coming into Manchester Airport from places such as the south of France and Switzerland.
They are looking to issue divorce proceedings in England, where financial settlements can be more advantageous. The firm expects to make further appointments at Hale in live with increased demand for its services.
