Julian Hawkhead became Managing Partner of Stowe Family Law in December 2009. Having graduated in Law from Leicester University and the College of Law in York, Julian commenced his training contract in 1999, working with Marilyn Stowe when she was a senior partner in the firm Grahame Stowe Bateson. He subsequently followed her to become a founding partner of Stowe Family Law LLP upon its establishment in 2007.

With a broad spectrum of expertise in family law, Julian Hawkhead is a Resolution-accredited specialist in both Emergency Procedures in Financial and Property Cases and Complex Financial and Property Matters. He is also known for his work with cases involving complex financial arrangements on behalf of high net worth clients, often with a corporate or trust element.

Julian Hawkhead is appreciated for his sensible and commercial approach to cases. He is noted for his ability to negotiate effectively, bringing calm and common sense to the most contentious of disputes, or litigating directly and cost-effectively when appropriate. Julian is a trained collaborative lawyer and the skills that he brings to the negotiating table have brought him recognition in Chambers and Partners as ”...constructive and committed to resolving matters in the best interests of his clients.”

Career highlight

Negotiating a £7 million settlement for a client who was determined that she did not want to go to court.  The settlement was agreed using a collaborative approach.
