Katie has a wide variety of experience in all aspects of family law including advising and representing clients in the process of divorce, clients who have not been married and those who have entered into civil partnerships as well as in all types of family law issues involving children.

Katie deals with a range of cases from the typical family who may own very few assets up to wealthy clients running successful businesses and with assets worth several million pounds. Katie is well versed in all aspects of relationships including pre-nuptial agreements, divorce, separation agreements, cases involving domestic abuse and all types of cases involving children, such as child arrangement orders, cases involving grandparents’ rights, financial provision for children and relocation cases.

Training & employment experience

She studied History at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and then went on to study Law at BPP Law School in Leeds. Upon conclusion of her studies in 2008, Katie joined a busy legal aid practice in Leeds City Centre, at which point she began working in Family Law and has specialised in this area ever since.

Approach

Katie is a personable and empathetic solicitor with excellent client care skills who promotes a constructive approach to the sensitive issues associated with the breakdown of relationships. She explores the possibility of an agreed settlement wherever possible but is determined and meticulous in order to ensure that the cases that cannot be agreed result in the best possible outcome for her clients.

Accreditation

Katie is a qualified collaborative lawyer and is a Resolution Accredited Specialist in Complex Financial Remedies and Private Children.

Outside of work

Katie is an avid traveller and enjoys making the most of her time off work exploring new countries. Katie also has a very energetic dog with whom she loves walking in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
