Berlusconi claims ‘feminist’ judges behind divorce settlement

Former Prime Minister of Italy Silvo Berlusconi  has claimed the female judges who oversaw a recent divorce settlement with former wife Veronica Lario were “feminist” and “communist”.

According to a Reuters report, Berlusconi said, in his first public comment on the settlement:

“They ordered me to pay €200,000 a day, and this says a lot about who the Milan judges are. They are three feminist and communist judges.”

Judges in Milan did not support his policies and had persecuted him since the early 1990s the controversial media tycoon claimed during an interview on Italian TV channel La7.

Press reports at the time of the settlement claimed he had been ordered to pay only €100,000 a day but Berlusconi did not explain the discrepancy.

The 76 year-old politician plans to appeal the divorce ruling and believes he can negotiate with Lario on the basis of their “excellent” relationship.

She filed for divorce in 2009 after various allegations of infidelity.

Silvio Berlusconi is a fantastic figure of fun. He brings mirth to the dourest of proceedings, particularly when giving vent to his prejudices against the communist, feminist judges who have dogged him for years and prevented him from carrying on his own dogging with such delightful personalities as Ruby the Heartstealer.
