Anger after property developer in divorce battle is freed from prison

The ex-wife of property developer Scot Young has reacted angrily to his release from prison.

Young, now 51, received a six month jail sentence for contempt of court in January after failing to reveal court-ordered financial details in a long-running divorce dispute with former wife Michelle. She claims he has hidden millions in off-shore tax havens while he insists he went bankrupt following a disastrous property deal.

Young was released earlier this week after serving three months at  Pentonville Prison. He was photographed with his 29 year-old model girlfriend at an exhibition in Soho the following day, the Evening Standard reports.

Michelle said:

“He’s still in contempt of court. How can the justice system let him take one step out of prison without him disclosing where the £400million is?”

The 48 year-old claims her former husband owes more £1 million in unpaid maintenance and child support.

She continued:

“Not only is this case a personal injustice to my daughters and me, it is also a social injustice as the taxpayer has lost out on potentially hundreds of millions of pounds.”
