One third disappointed by their partner’s marriage proposal technique

One third of women were disappointed by the partner’s marriage proposal, according to a new survey.

Thirty-three per cent said the proposal had not been as ‘fairy tale’ as they had hoped. When asked to explain their disappointment, the majority said they thought the place their partner had proposed had not been as sentimental as it could have been. More than a quarter thought their partner’s proposal could have been more romantic, while as many as 25 per cent said they wished the proposal had been more of a surprise. Seventeen per cent, meanwhile, said they wished the proposal had been more personal to demonstrate how well their partner knew them.

Other respondents expressed scepticism about traditional aspects of the marriage proposal. More than half said they didn’t think it was important for the ring-brandishing partner to go down on one knee to propose, and a significant 58 per cent said asking permission of the potential bride’s parents was no longer necessary.

Designers Hot Pink surveyed more than 2,000 people.

Founder Manu Bhardwaj said: “Our survey has provided an interesting snapshot into what is essentially one of the most important events in a couple’s life.”

I am surprised it is only a third who are complaining – remember women think 80% of men are ‘below average’ 🙂
