How long does it really take to get over a divorce? The process is far from straightforward, and many can struggle with emotional turmoil during the process and for years to come. Over the past three decades in legal practice, I’ve seen the reactions of hundreds of people and spotted many patterns of behavior.
The law in England and Wales may be different to the law in America and elsewhere, but reactions to divorce – and indeed, other life-changing events – can be remarkably similar. My post provides a few examples of how people deal with divorce and its aftermath. They range from The Denialists, who stall and delay the divorce process for as long as they can, to The Winners, who will not stop until they get what they want.
