Litigants in person offered court tours and seminars

Family Law|January 17th 2017

Unrepresented litigants in person appearing at the Bristol Family and Civil Justice Centre will be offered a tour of the courts and ‘information sessions’ from next week.

Both free options will be available between 1 and 2pm on Thursdays and Fridays, with alternating days dedicated to the family and then the civil courts. The initiative is designed to help people who are facing an appearance in court for family disputes or smaller civil matters, without the guidance of a lawyer.

Court staff will explain legal jargon and the ways in which the courts operate. Participants in the sessions will also be offered help getting ready for their hearings or in assisting others to do so.

The Bristol Family and Civil Justice Centre can be found at 2 Redcliff Street.

As my partner is “Litigant in Person” and lives in another part of the world, what are the suggestions for people like himself?
