Victims of domestic violence

Some victims of domestic violence may qualify for legal aid. We do not offer legal aid but please see this page for more advice around financial support through legal aid.

If you have been affected by domestic violence, including threats from a partner or other family member, Stowe Family Law’s domestic violence solicitors can advise you of the legal options. Injunction proceedings can be issued swiftly, depending on the circumstances of your case, to provide you with the protection of the court.

It may be that proceedings will be instigated by the police, including harassment proceedings, which will save you a great deal of time and cost. In cases where the victim of abuse is financially dependent on the abusing party, we can advise you of the law and your rights.

Every case is different, but a victim cannot be expected to stay in a violent environment due to financial constraints. As experienced solicitors, we can advise you of the best course of action to take.

The law protects the most vulnerable people in society, and we will act in those circumstances to either protect you, or to advise you if an allegation of domestic abuse is made against you.

Again we are not able to offer legal aid.

Accused of domestic violence?

If you have been accused of committing domestic violence against a partner or child, then we may be able to offer support and advice to help you.

We cannot take criminal law cases.  For such cases we recommend contacting your local Citizens Advice Bureau or searching for a criminal lawyer .

Again we are not able to offer legal aid.
