Is the impartiality of judges affected?

Senior Partner Marilyn Stowe’s latest article in the Solicitors Journal looks at friendships between legal professionals and asks whether these ever affect the impartiality of judges.

Marilyn recalls standing with a former client and seeing the opposing QC and the judge in her case returning to the court together chatting after lunch which caused her client to become upset.  She had to work hard to calm the client down and assure her that this would not affect the outcome of the case.
