Earlier today I appeared on This Morning not once, but twice! I was there to discuss a topic which crops up every January in family law circles: ‘Divorce D-Day’.
This is the annual post-Christmas surge in divorce enquiries. A week of overhyped festive fun involving, for many, too much to drink, unrealistic expectations, forced family time and budget-busting spending. Then this leads straight into a new year, with its accompanying thoughts of the future and that tempting sense that the grass must be greener somewhere over the horizon.
I appeared on the sofa with This Morning’s long-standing agony aunt Denise Roberts. The questions from viewers were, as ever, fraught and pointed. It was a privilege to appear alongside Denise: a long-time staple on the This Morning sofa, who is as kind and friendly off the screen as she is on it.
I hope that I was able to help and that my legal advice, together with Denise’s insights about relationships and emotions, made a difference – both to the people who had rung in and to any viewers experiencing similar dilemmas in their own lives.
You can view my first appearance on the programme here, and the second appearance above.
