We are the UK’s leading family law practice

When families break down, we take the strain.

We’re the largest specialist team of family lawyers in the UK. And every one of us wants the same thing: to help more clients get what they need today, so they can move on tomorrow.

The short video below explains why we do what we do.

Our story

In the year that American actress Elizabeth Taylor finalised her 7th divorce (1982), Stowe Family Law opened its first office in a converted cobblers shop in Leeds.

In February 2017 founder Marilyn Stowe sold the firm and retired. As part of the management buy out, private equity firm Livingbridge invested in the next phase of Stowe Family Law’s expansion.

Today, we have grown into the UK’s leading family law practice with offices in over 30 locations in England including London, Manchester, Bristol, York, Birmingham and Leeds.

Our people

Our people are the backbone of what we do. We attract the best family lawyers and support teams who excel in something they are passionate about.

Within our 75-plus strong team of leading UK divorce lawyers, we have forensic accountants, a dedicated children’s department, an adoption team, surrogacy law specialists and an international family law department and we also have trained mediators.

Our journey

To continue our journey as the UK’s leading family law practice, we must work together so that we grow to be the best for our people, the best in the market and the best for our clients.

Our strong foundations will support us.

Our guiding values and behaviours will help us get there.

Our values

We have spirit – We love what we do, and it always shines through

We achieve together – We’re better with each other than on our own

We want growth – The more we can grow, the more we can help
