The specialist solicitors at Stowe Family Law can help you start your online divorce proceedings. We're happy to offer a no-obligation, free consultation to answer your questions and help you get started.
To begin, we'll need some information from you. The first step is to fill out our online divorce contact form and request a callback. Please complete the enquiry details section to give us an idea of your situation and what the next steps should be. We'll then contact you at your preferred appointment time.
What is the online divorce process?
The online divorce process is essentially the same as hiring a solicitor or other managed divorce services. A divorce online application still needs to be approved by a judge, and the same divorce papers and forms, such as the D8 Divorce Petition Form (which can be submitted by post or online) and consent order, are required. However, it is possible to start the divorce proceedings the same day when you apply for a divorce online.
The first step is to complete a divorce application (D8) as a joint application or sole application. The application can be submitted to the divorce centre online or by post for the current court fees of £593. Next, after a 20-week cooling period, you can apply for a conditional order. After 6 weeks of receiving the conditional order, you can then apply for a legally binding final consent order.
Please be aware that any other complexities regarding the dissolution process, such as financial claims or child arrangements with your ex-partner, will be handled separately from your online divorce application.
Before you file for divorce, there is some information you’ll require, including your original marriage certificate or a copy, the full name and address of your ex-partner, and proof of your name change if you have changed it since your marriage.
