LONDON, 18th June 2025
Stowe Family Law (Stowe) announced today it has acquired Hatton Law, a specialist family law firm providing bespoke legal help and advice on a range of issues affecting individuals and their families in Kent.
With an office located in Chatham, acquiring the business will strengthen Stowe’s status locally and increase its ability to support clients on divorce, child arrangements and financial matters through legal negotiation and mediation.
Ken Fowlie, Chairman at Stowe, said of the acquisition:
“Adding the Hatton Law team to the Stowe family will add depth and breadth to our offering and help us expand our presence in Kent. Enquiries into the firm continue their strong upward trend, and the acquisition of Hatton Law will help us support more families as they navigate the issues associated with a relationship breakdown.”
Ken continued:
“As we continue to pursue our aspiration to be the UK’s leading family law practice, adding Hatton is another step towards our goal. I am delighted to welcome Deborah, Sharon and the rest of the team to Stowe. It will be terrific to work together as a larger team, given the close cultural alignment we have felt as we have worked together on this project.”
Heading up the new team, Stowe’s Regional Director for London & the Southeast, Jemma Slavin, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Hatton Law and its talented team of specialist family lawyers to Stowe. This acquisition reinforces our dedication to exceptional service and will allow us to better serve our growing number of clients across the UK, particularly in Kent.”
Stowe was founded in 1984 and has since grown into a national network of over 90 offices across England and Wales, with over 200 specialist family lawyers and one of the country’s largest portfolios of family law work. In September 2024, the firm was acquired by Investcorp, a leading global alternative investment firm, from investment firm Livingbridge.
The acquisition is the latest for the firm, following the successful historic acquisitions of Chapman Pieri, Watson Thomas Solicitors, Crisp & Co and Hawkins Family Law.
