More about our Southgate family law solicitors near you

More about our Southgate family law solicitors near you

  • How much does divorce cost?

The overall cost of a divorce will depend on the specific issues involved. Once your solicitor understands your situation, they can provide an estimated cost at the outset. Matters such as financial settlements, property division, or child arrangements will require more time and affect the total cost. Further information is available in our guide to divorce costs, and we provide more detail in our guide to family law fees. We also offer a fixed-fee divorce service for straightforward divorces.

  • What court will I attend in Southgate?

If your family law matter requires a hearing, you will attend Edmonton county court and family court, located at 59 Fore Street, N18 2TN in Upper Edmonton. The court is a 5–10 minute walk from Silver street overground station along Fore street, close to Edmonton Green shopping centre and Edmonton Green library. If you arrive early, there are cafés nearby such as Starbucks and Costa Coffee in Edmonton Green and independent café Le Delice on Fore Street.

From our Southgate office at The Grange, the court is approximately a 15–20 minute drive via the A10 towards Edmonton Green and Fore Street. If driving, follow signs for Edmonton Green town centre, with parking available at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre Car Park, which is a short walk from the court.

  • Do your Southgate lawyers provide financial support?

Yes, we do. We understand how stressful finances can be, so having an expert financial lawyer by your side can bring peace of mind. We’ve even been recognised by the Legal 500:

“The firm benefits from having an in-house forensic accountancy support for the really complex financial cases.”From tracking international assets to making complex financial structures understandable, no matter your circumstances, our team can help.

  • Can your team guide me through the divorce process?

Absolutely. We work with clients who are on both sides of the divorce process. So, no matter if you’ve been asked to respond to a divorce application or if you’re the one starting the process, we can help.

Whatever side of the process you’re on, divorce is undoubtedly an extremely stressful and emotional time. Our lawyers in Southgate have been helping families for over 50 years, meaning we have the skills and experience to guide you through the process with ease.

We’ll be in your corner from the start, talking in terms you understand so that you feel comfortable in the decisions you’re making regarding your future. That way, you have everything you need for life after divorce.

  • What do I need to know when negotiating a divorce settlement?

It’s no secret that every marriage is unique, and with that comes a couple’s financial ties. This can make negotiating a divorce settlement extremely difficult, which is why having one of Stowe’s expert financial solicitors in your corner can be beneficial.

Our team has years of experience in this area and will cover a range of assets. For example, pensions, property, assets you have abroad, investments, as well as pre-marital assets.

We’ve worked with clients from all backgrounds, including high-net-worth individuals, so no matter your circumstances, we can help. We’ll ensure you have everything you need for a successful future for you and your loved ones.

  • Are you able to help me resolve a family dispute without going to court?

Yes, we can. Court isn’t always the best solution for every family, and we know that. Here at Stowe Family Law, we strive to provide tailored solutions for your circumstances, and sometimes a non-confrontational resolution is that solution.

This is why we provide our clients in Southgate and beyond with a range of alternative routes, such as mediation, arbitration, and collaborative law. Not only is this usually less money but also creates a far more amicable relationship within the family.

We recognise that understanding the differences between them all can be tricky, so why not reach out to our team, who will listen to your circumstances and be able to recommend accordingly?

  • Is getting a cohabitation agreement worth it?

Currently, the law does not recognise or entitle unmarried couples to the same rights as those who are married. Therefore, if you are considering a living together agreement (also known as a cohabitation agreement), we highly recommend it.

Our Southgate lawyers will listen to your circumstances and ensure your agreement covers everything you need. From the dividing of bills, joint assets, and even how much you will both contribute, we can help you get the rights you deserve.

  • Why should I trust your Southgate lawyers for my family law case?

Stowe Family Law has been helping families across the UK for more than 50 years. As experts in all aspects of family law, we have specialist knowledge to guide you through the process with ease.

However, having the skills is just half of our appeal. We also recognise just how difficult this time can be for you and your loved ones, which is why we provide unwavering support from the very beginning.

We’re even recognised by the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, so you’re in safe hands with our Southgate solicitors. Book your free callback today.
