Eleanor Lorimer

Training & experience 

Eleanor studied Psychology in Bristol before converting to law and qualifying with a distinction from BPP, London. She went on to gain experience in both a large corporate firm and a boutique private client practice before qualifying as a family specialist in February 2015 and moving to Devon in 2018.

Eleanor joined Stowe’s Exeter office as an Associate in June 2022.

Specialisms

Eleanor advises a broad range of clients – whether married, in civil partnerships, separated, cohabiting, members of the LGBT community or those contemplating marriage – on all aspects of family law.

Eleanor’s expertise lies in the resolution of financial issues that arise upon divorce or relationship breakdown, particularly those involving complex pensions, businesses, trust structures and property portfolios.

She has a special interest in farming divorces and their inherent complexities.

Eleanor also assists clients with private law children disputes including surrogacy and sperm donor agreements.

Approach

Eleanor is committed to resolving family disputes in a non-confrontational and constructive manner. She understands that each family is unique and likes to work with her clients to identify their priorities and adopt the most practical and cost-effective process to achieve their objectives.

Eleanor is known for her straightforward, pragmatic and cost-sensitive approach. She prides herself on negotiating settlements out of court wherever possible but also has the knowledge and expertise to robustly guide clients through the court process as necessary.

Outside of work

Outside of work, Eleanor is kept busy with family life and looking after her three children. She loves the countryside and coast and enjoys anything outdoors, particularly surfing, walking her dogs or, best of all, a ski holiday.
