Jake Channing

Training and experience

Jake studied for his LPC at the University of Law, Guildford, attaining a distinction. Jake qualified as a Solicitor in 2025 and joined Stowe Family Law in 2026.

Jake is a member of Resolution, a committee of Family Lawyers and other professionals who are committed to resolving family disputes in the most constructive way.

Prior to working in Family Law, Jake worked in Mental Health Law where he supported vulnerable clients who were detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.

Jake provides advice for couples in relationships, including cohabitation agreements and tailored Declarations of Trust/ No interest.

When relationships unfortunately break down, Jake will advise on divorce & dissolution of civil partnerships, separation of unmarried couples, financial arrangements arising from divorce, arrangements for children and domestic abuse.

Approach

Jake understands the emotional and stressful toll that Family Law issues entail. Jake looks to meet each client’s needs with empathy and understanding, ensuring that clients feel heard and supported.

Where possible, Jake will work with his clients to secure an agreement which suits the family’s needs and ultimately avoids Court proceedings. In circumstances where Court proceedings do become necessary, Jake looks to take a proactive approach, manage his clients expectations and provide tailored guidance throughout.

Jake also acknowledges the impact that separation can have on the children in a family. Jake will therefore look to prioritise both his client and their children’s best interests with a view of sidestepping conflict and resolving matters in the most amicable way possible.

Outside of work

Jake enjoys watching his beloved QPR and taking part in other sporting activities. Jake also appreciates travelling and spending time with his family and friends.

Charity work

Jake has supported the Salvation Army, Guildford, with several initiatives to assist with their clothing drive. Jake has also completed several runs for charity.
