Laura George

Training and experience

Laura studied Accounting and Law at Bournemouth University and graduated in 2008. Following this, she trained exclusively in family law and qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive.  She trained at a reputable private client law firm specialising predominantly in high-net-worth and high-profile matters. She worked at this firm for nearly 9 years before moving on to other local firms following the birth of her daughter.

Laura commenced her employment at Stowe’s Southampton office in January 2024.

Specialisms 

Laura’s extensive legal experience spans divorce and financial matters involving complex corporate structures and trust funds, as well as cases with limited assets. Her practical and proportionate approach includes early-stage strategy discussions with clients.

She also specializes in private children matters, injunction proceedings, and separation agreements. Laura is particularly adept at addressing the challenges faced by unmarried couples during separation, including TOLATA proceedings.

In addition to resolving current legal issues, Laura proactively helps clients prevent future complications through guidance on cohabitation agreements, prenuptial, and postnuptial agreements, providing comprehensive legal support across relationship stages.

Approach

Laura recognises that while the law is the same, every family is different, and she therefore works together with clients to understand their individual circumstances and needs. Laura is a committed member of Resolution and while she will be robust if necessary, she always has the best interests of her client and the family in mind and approaches matters constructively with the view to minimising any conflict. Laura’s strength is her ability to settle cases without the need for Court proceedings.

Outside of Work

Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with her highly amusing 5 year old daughter, watching live music or doing anything active with family and friends (very long walks, paddleboarding, or playing golf badly are the more recent hobbies. She will also often be found at St Mary’s).
