Nicky is renowned for her clear and constructive advice, as well as her ability to find creative solutions in all aspects of family law including separation and divorce, financial arrangements and living arrangements for children.
Nicky has extensive experience in all aspects of family law, with a particular focus on assisting clients, both married and unmarried, to resolve the issues that arise on separation and divorce in relation to their financial arrangements and living arrangements for children. Nicky is regularly instructed in financial cases that have complex issues, including high asset values, business interests, trust interests and pension sharing. In addition to advising clients who are separating, Nicky also advises clients in the early stages of their relationship in relation to pre-marital and living together agreements.
Nicky also has many years of experience in advising families when local authority children services or Cafcass Children guardians are involved.
Nicky is a member of Resolution, and is also qualified to practice as a Collaborative lawyer.
Nicky is always aware that relationship breakdown is a highly stressful life event. She will spend time listening and working with her clients throughout their case to help them achieve their goals and priorities, with particular importance given to the needs of any children of the family. Nicky gives her clients clear, constructive and pragmatic advice, often looking for creative solutions, with a view to achieving the best and most cost-effective outcomes. While Nicky works hard to achieve negotiated settlements for her clients wherever possible, she is highly experienced and has a robust approach where court proceedings are needed.

Nicky studied Modern History at University College, Oxford before completing the post-graduate CPE law conversion course and LPC at Northumbria University. Nicky began her legal career as a family law paralegal in 1998 and qualified as a solicitor in June 2001. She has practised law in the North East of England for over 20 years and has specialised in family law from the outset.
Outside of work Nicky enjoys spending time with her teenage children and is actively involved with grassroots youth football as a parent and local club welfare officer. She also likes to find time for walking in her native Northumberland, singing in a choir and doing a spot of gardening.
