The seventh annual Stowe Family Law Grand Cup at York races finished in a rare dead heat.
Two horses thundered over the finishing line so closely that the judges couldn’t separate them. The 3-to-1 favourite Clever Cookie came back from a slow start in the opening stages of the race to make an apparently decisive break for the finishing line – but 12-1 contender Ralston Road had other ideas and matched him hoof for hoof over the closing stretch.
Stowe Family Law senior partner Marilyn Stowe met the winners after the event for a formal presentation. Jockeys Graham Lee and Ronan Whelan joined trainers Peter Niven and Pat Shanahan.
The law firm’s guests at the event this year included representatives of Pancreatic Cancer UK, which saw nearly £4,000 raised for the charity.
