Harriet deals with all areas of family law, with significant expertise in matrimonial financial remedy. Her experience is wide ranging in this area, dealing with individuals from all walks of life. Harriet also has vast experience dealing with disputes between separating parents over arrangements for the care of children. She has dealt with a number of complex matters in this area, including internal and external relocation and the registration of mirror child arrangements orders in another jurisdiction.
Harriet has experience drafting and negotiating terms of pre nuptial and cohabitation agreements. She has recent experience in financial disputes relating to separated cohabitees and in making claims under schedule 1 Children Act 1989, for financial provision for a child.
Harriet has extensive experience working with vulnerable clients, most recently representing a Respondent Mother in a private law Children Act matter who had been the victim of domestic violence and whom received a diagnosis of ASD as an adult. The Judge complemented Harriet’s approach jointly with counsel to seek out and implement special measures for the Mother to ensure she was able to participate fully in the proceedings.
Harriet is a robust advocate with an eye for detail and she is often complimented upon her unwavering willingness to go the extra mile for her clients. Her advice is sensible and structured, with the end goal- settlement where possible, and finality as swiftly and cost effectively as possible -always at the forefront
Training & Employment
Harriet trained whilst working in a High Street firm also in Tunbridge Wells. She has worked in family law since 2002. She qualified in 2007, having achieved dispensation from the post study practical experience usually required, on account of her having already established a varied practise as a trainee. She has worked both in Sevenoaks and East Sussex before returning to Tunbridge Wells, a town in which she lives and has grown up next door to. Harriet has built up a network of contacts and colleagues throughout her career spanning 17 years, which proves invaluable to both Harriet and her clients.
Outside of Work
Outside of work Harriet enjoys both time with her young family and the occasional (peaceful) few hours without. Harriet likes to ski when the opportunity arises.
