I have specialised in family law for over 35 years with a focus on divorce, separation and private law children disputes, often advising on very complex cases. I am noted for my non-confrontational manner and supportive approach that helps to resolve matters quickly and avoid court hearings, where possible.
Mark Christie was a long-standing member of Resolution – First for Family Law, having joined shortly after its inception (when it was known as The Solicitors Family Law Association) and firmly believes in, and practices, its ethos of seeking to resolve family law disputes in a constructive and non-confrontational manner. He was also a member of the Solicitor’s Regulation Authority’s Family Law Panel which means his expertise in family law has been rigorously and independently assessed and accredited.
Having specialised in family law for over 35 years Mark has a wealth of practical experience in this demanding and ever-changing area of the law.
He deals with all aspects of divorce and separation, private law children disputes (eg in relation to residence, contact, prohibited steps orders and specific issue orders), grandparents’ rights, financial issues on divorce and separation, separation and prenuptial agreements, emergency remedies and non-molestation and occupation orders required as a result of domestic abuse.
Mark provides clients with realistic, holistic, constructive and results-driven advice, delivered with empathy and respect. Mark’s non-confrontational manner wins over both clients and fellow professionals, enabling matters to be resolved quickly and by agreement whenever possible. This avoids costly and unwelcome court proceedings.
Although the majority of Mark’s cases are based in the Family Court in England and Wales he has represented clients in respect of international relocation in jurisdictions including Australia, Germany, Spain and the USA.
Mark read Law at The University of East Anglia and studied for his post-degree professional legal qualifications at Leeds Law School (as it then was). Mark has always specialised in family law and has done so for over 35 years. As a result, he brings a wealth of experience to assist his clients.
Mark’s approach is to listen to his clients, understand their wishes and feelings and seek to provide them with empathetic, focused, practical and holistic advice at a very difficult time in their lives.
Mark is married with children and grandchildren. In his spare time, he is a musician in a band and is a keen sportsman, particularly enjoying squash, cycling and running.
