Specialisms
Shivi practices a broad range of family law matters, typically acting for high to ultra-high-net-worth individuals in divorce, finances and complex children disputes. She has frequently represented or been against high-profile clients and celebrities and clients who have complicated international issues. Shivi has built up a strong practice in children relocation cases, both within the UK and abroad, and is building her experience in surrogacy and modern families work. She also frequently drafts and advises on nuptial and cohabitation agreements.
Approach
Shivi focuses on client care and strives to provide the highest level of professionalism. She understands and recognises the very difficult nature of family law disputes and is an empathetic ear to her clients whilst also providing sound legal advice. Shivi’s work has been described in the Legal 500 as “top notch” and she was praised for her “patience in explaining the strategies and complex parts of law” and for being able to “cut through detail and see the bigger picture”.
Training and experience
Shivi achieved First Class Honours in her Law degree and a Distinction in the LPC. Since qualifying in 2012, she has practiced exclusively in family law. She was trained by a Deputy District Judge and prior to joining Stowe, worked for boutique family firms as well as large international firms.
Accreditations, memberships and awards
Shivi is accredited by the Law Society as a Family Law Advanced Specialist in Financial Remedies and Private Children cases. In 2020, she won the Citywealth Family Lawyer of the Year Award and in 2018, she was awarded the Rising Star Award with WeAreTheCity. Shivi has featured in the Top 100 Future Leaders List, and been shortlisted in several award categories, including Mentor of the Year, Career Initiative and Civil Lawyer of the Year. Shivi is a proud member of Resolution and strives to resolve family law disputes as amicably as possible, but fights hard for her clients in court when this is required.
Outside of work
Outside of work, Shivi is a former Karate World Champion and a second dan black belt. She retired from the sport due to injury but maintains a keen interest in health and fitness generally. She enjoys spending weekends out in nature exploring with her family and friends.
