American actor Adam Goldberg is to join the cast of a pilot for a new sitcom about divorce.
Divorce: A Love Story, commissioned by television network ABC, revolves around the relationship between Kenny (Jason Jones of satirical magazine programme The Daily Show) and Robin (Andrea Anders of US sitcom Mr Sunshine).
The couple are newly divorced but can’t seem to leave each other alone, despite their relationship being “even worse after they divorce than it had been during their marriage”, according to TV news website Reality TV World. The couple’s separation and continued involvement are the focus of the plot.
Goldberg plays Ike, Kenny’s co-worker and best friend who is described by the entertainment website Cinema Blend as “neurotic and analytical”.
Divorce: A Love Story is based on the Israeli comedy Life Isn’t Everything, which was written by Daniel Lappin. The pilot for the US version has been written by Rules of Engagement executive producer Mike Sikowitz, who has worked on numerous other sitcoms, including Friends.
Forty two year old Goldberg has appeared in numerous film and television roles since the early 1990s. He is perhaps most famous for his appearance as infantryman Mellish in Steven Spielberg’s 1998 movie Saving Private Ryan.
