TV presenter Clare Balding considers same sex marriage

TV presenter Clare Balding could be set to marry partner Alice following last night’s House of Lords vote in favour of gay marriage.

The 42 year-old, a fixture of the BBC’s London 2012 coverage, attended last night’s Glamour Women Of The Year Awards where she was named best presenter.

During the course of the evening, she fell into conversation with veteran actress Joan Collins, the Evening Standard reports.”

Balding, also a journalist, said: “The House of Lords voted two to one in favour of supporting the gay marriage bill. We’ve been talking about it at our table, and Joan said, ‘When are you and Alice going to get married?’ And Alice said, ‘In three years’ time’ — which I didn’t know but apparently that’s what’s happening. And Joan asked if she could come to the wedding. I said, ‘Yeah, of course’ ”

Balding entered a civil partnership with former Radio 4 announcer Alice Arnold in September 2006.
