The 37 year-old performer has written the first of a series of posts about “the Jewish aspects of divorce” on her website – looking initially at traditional head coverings and the role they play in Jewish life.
A second post examines the challenges of divorce in public and private. She writes:
“I hope that these divorce posts will accomplish two things. First, I hope they educate people about aspects of divorce in the Jewish community they may not have heard about or thought about. I love that we have Jewish and non-Jewish readers on [Jewish parenting site] Kveller who like to learn about how other people live religiously. It’s wonderful for us to have this forum to share. And second, I hope to give support to women who may be similarly struggling with some of the more subtle aspects of divorce by talking about the uncomfortable and inevitable decisions that often come with being traditional in a nontraditional situation.”
The 37 year-old actor and author told Parade magazine:
“I think I’ve tried to strike a really careful balance between writing just because I can, and writing with the purpose of educating other people about an experience that I hope will be helpful to them. I’m not really the kind of person who feels the need to sort of blog every single thing that’s happening, and I actually am a pretty deep person, as most of us are.”
