Media personality Rachel Uchitel to divorce after 18 month marriage

TV personality Rachel Uchitel is to divorce her husband after just 18 months.

The 38 year-old married insurance underwriter Matt Hahn in Las Vegas in October 2011 and she gave birth to a daughter the following May. But her husband has now filed for divorce, claiming, according to TMZ, that Uchitel had been cruel to him.

Hahn, 28, has also filed for maintenance (referred to as ‘spousal support’ in the US), custody of their daughter and accompanying child support. The divorce papers reportedly request “an equitable distribution of marital assets”.

A spokesman for Uchitel told TMZ:

“It is Ms. Uchitel’s goal to resolve this action amicably, quickly and quietly and not in the media.”

The couple’s relationship had become rocky, the site claims, and Uchitel called the New York police following an argument in May. But she did not follow up or file charges, TMZ reports.

Uchitel first shot to fame in 2001, when she appeared in the media holding a photograph of fiancé James Andrew O’Grady, who died during the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11. A nightclub manager and hostess, and returned to the headlines following a relationship with actor David Boreanaz. Widespread media reports also linked her  to golfer Tiger Woods but she denied any relationship.

She also appeared on reality TV show Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew.

The marriage to Hahn was her second. A previous marriage, to childhood friend Steven Ehrenkranz, lasted just four months.
