“7 Cardinal Rules for Life”

Relationships|November 17th 2013

Spotted on Pinterest: a graphic titled the 7 Cardinal Rules for Life. Although its messages are presumably intended to be universal, the words seem particularly applicable to those who are going through divorce, or who have come out the other side.

Take a look and see what you think:

  1. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present
  2. What others think of you is none of your business
  3. Time heals almost everything; give it time
  4. Don’t compare your life to others and don’t judge them; you have no idea what their journey is all about
  5. Stop thinking too much it’s all right to not know the answers they will come to you when you least expect it
  6. No one is in charge of your happiness except you
  7. Smile – you don’t own all the problems in the world

Perhaps the judiciary should take note, for me this fails at the first hurdle.

    1. Make peace with your past – How exactly am I to do that with a lifelong restraining order that forbids me from ever again talking to a woman I spent 20 yeas with and have 2 children??

I’m certainly not going to grovel to a family judge in an attempt to get the order removed. If she wants to talk in the future ,she can grovel to the judge and risk losing yet more money.

Agree. It would have been cheaper for me to do away with my ex when we separated. For that I would have got life, out in 12 years. Instead I got 19 years CM sentence, longer and on-going.

  3. JamesB says:

As well as being cheaper, I’d get to see more of my children in the long run that way also.

  4. JamesB says:

I’m not impressed by the current immoral system, at all.
