Cardiff-based Stowe Family Law, the UK’s largest specialist family law firm, has conducted a study that reveals divorce rates for every postcode in the UK.
Using historical divorce data, the study has revealed how successful marriages are in every town and city in the UK, and how likely they are to end in divorce, based on where people live.
The study uses an interactive database, loaded with publicly available UK divorce data to compare the volume of divorce applications by postcode to the national average divorce rate revealing how likely couples will stay married based on where they live.
Results include:
- Overall, Cardiff has a divorce rate that is 10% below the national average.
- The CF71 postcode area has the highest divorce rate which is 156% higher than the national average.
- The Cardiff postcode areas CF24 and CF46 have the highest marriage success rate with a divorce rate that is 50% below the national average.

“As the UK’s largest specialist family law firm, we developed this tool, to provide a fascinating insight into divorce rates for every postcode in the UK.
Interestingly, the data reveals that in Cardiff there are wide discrepancies from the average which raises the question of why that might be. There does not appear to be any single theme that unites those with higher or lower incidence rates.”
With 22 offices, Stowe Family Law has the scale to provide our clients with access to an unrivalled network of knowledge, experience, and resources on their doorstep in Cardiff.
