We supported a woman experiencing emotional abuse and controlling behaviour from her husband of over 30 years. The couple shared two teenage children and owned their home mortgage-free.

Our Leeds solicitors were incredibly supportive during this time, achieving success for the client. This allowed her to move forward with her life – for both her and her children.

How we helped

Our solicitors helped the client to understand her legal rights and the options available to her. We applied for and secured a non-molestation order that would help protect both her and the children from any further domestic abuse. We also referred our client to a trusted local domestic abuse support charity for additional help.

We were then able to deal with the divorce and financial settlement, negotiating a fair division of the couple’s assets. The settlement ensured our client could provide a stable home for her children.

Divorce and non-molestation support

Making sure the client and her children were protected was of the utmost importance. The client described feeling relieved and safe thanks to the support from the team. The client received a financial settlement that recognised the long-standing nature of the marriage and her needs moving forward.
