Divorcée faces battle with daughter over pay-out

A woman who won a multi-million pound divorce pay-out now faces a legal battle with her daughter.

The 54 year-old former calendar model was awarded a settlement of around £75 million from her ex-husband. However, the Saudi billionaire had been battling cancer and died at the age of 61 on 20 July. This was a week before the deadline set by the High Court to pay his former wife.

Two years before his death, the tycoon set up a financial deal in which he effectively ‘sold’ a majority of his assets to his three daughters under Sharia law. As a result, his former wife now faces the prospect of suing her 13 year-old daughter and two stepdaughters to get the money she was awarded.

Speaking to The Telegraph, an unidentified source close to the former model said the disputed inheritance would “not [be] a problem for the daughter” because she was “devoted to her mother and they [were] very close”.

This development marks yet another public chapter in the long-running, acrimonious divorce case. It had previously made headlines when the wife initially claimed £200 million and again when the husband claimed that he was protected by diplomatic immunity and should not have to obey the English courts.
