Divorce is an isolating and frustrating experience. That’s why it’s important to have a professional and helpful divorce team on your side; it’s also why you can benefit from the many post-divorce resources Bath has to offer.
Below is a brief list of support groups, advice centres and more that you might benefit from, compiled by out Bath team. If you need further help, feel free to contact us.
2DAY
2Day is a resource you can use at any point throughout your divorce—before, during, or after. They can help you with:
- Changing your name by deed poll
- Their Divorce Recovery Workshop is a self-help course that will help you deal with the emotional trauma of a relationship that has broken down.
- Mediation, with lots of helpful links
If you need easily accessible information on divorce, they can help (although there’s no replacement for the advice of a real lawyer).
Divorce Club
Divorce Club is a support group for people thinking of, or going through, divorce. They arrange regular meetings across the country and find new members through sites like Meetup. Meetup is a site that makes it easy for people to organise groups, clubs, and meet-ups of all kinds.
Divorce Club serves two purposes. First, it helps people find others going through the same things that they are, and provides them with a forum through which they can vent, express their feelings, and find some solace during a difficult time. Second, it provides a social hub for nights out, meeting new people, and getting back on your feet after a difficult time.
Relate
Relate provide therapy specifically for relationship support, and not just in the context of couples’ counselling. Just because you’re breaking up, that doesn’t mean that you and your family can’t benefit from therapy; you want the process to go as smoothly as possible, and to minimise the impact of your divorce on family life and your career. Relate can help.
On their site, they state that they offer relationship counselling, webcam counselling, and telephone counselling at their Bath Relate Office.
