Stowe Testimonials

Wendy advises and represents clients in the process of will planning and understands that each case is unique.  Where there are complex and/or difficult family circumstances and relationships she guides clients through the options available to them including, for example, the use of trusts for vulnerable beneficiaries.

Elderly client work and end of life planning are particular areas of interest to Wendy.  She has represented clients in applications to the Court of Protection where a person has lost the mental capacity to make decisions for themselves as well as acting as attorney when required.  She has presented to local community groups on this subject, given radio interviews for the BBC, established an Age UK legal advice clinic as well as participated in numerous charitable schemes.

Following someone’s death, Wendy is often instructed to act on behalf of the estate to ensure that the deceased’s wishes are carried out and their assets are transferred to the beneficiaries as swiftly and smoothly as possible.  This can include liaising with the Revenue to finalise the deceased’s tax affairs and apply for any available tax reliefs and well as other organisations such as HM Land Registry and the Probate Registry.  Wendy can also advise on post-death tax opportunities for beneficiaries through the use of Deeds of Variation.

Training & employment experience

Wendy was awarded a joint honors degree in Accounting and Law from Kingston University in 2001 following which she attended the College of Law in London; successfully obtaining a commendation in their legal practice course in 2002. After completing her training and qualifying as a solicitor in 2004, Wendy moved to Yorkshire.

Wendy is experienced in, and committed to, delivering the full range of private client services including wills, probates, trusts, powers of attorney and deputyship matters. Wendy has worked exclusively in this area since qualifying.

To develop her expertise in estate and trust planning, Wendy completed the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioner examinations in June 2009 and became a fully qualified STEP member (TEP). STEP is the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning.

Wendy puts her client’s needs first and foremost. She is approachable, empathetic and strives to achieve the best outcome for each situation. She will present the various options available and then empower and assist you to make the choices you want to make.
