How we can help with mediation

If you are going through the family law mediation process, it is important to have legal advice alongside the advice from your mediator. Remember, a mediator can give you information, but no advice to either party. They must remain impartial and cannot give opinions on your proposals or tell you what should happen.

At Stowe Family Law, we employ a number of family lawyers who are also trained mediators.

  • Our family lawyers can provide legal advice before, during and after mediation.
  • Trained mediators can help you prepare for a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM), the first step required under the Family Procedure Rules.
  • Our lawyers can work alongside your mediator (hybrid mediation), giving real-time legal input while you negotiate with your ex-partner.
  • We assist in structuring and understanding mediation proposals, whether for finances, property, child arrangements or other matters.
  • An expert lawyer can craft legally binding agreements, for example, consent orders for finances or child arrangements, once you reach an agreement through mediation.
  • We provide flexible, on-demand mediation support, meeting you as often as you need, for only the advice you require, tailored to your circumstances.
