More from our Stony Stratford divorce lawyers

More from our Stony Stratford divorce lawyers

  • How do I even begin the process of getting divorced?

We understand that getting divorced is an emotional and stressful time, especially when you’re first beginning the process. No one discusses how to even get a divorce. But that’s where we come in.

When you reach out to us, you’ll initially have a consultation with our internal team who will match you with the right lawyer for your needs. After this, we’ll explain the divorce process in detail and more importantly, in terms you understand to remove any worries or concerns you may have. We’ll work alongside you throughout the process, so you always have an expert in your corner.

  • What does responding to a divorce petition mean?

You’ll be asked to respond to a divorce petition if your ex-partner has filed for divorce. It essentially means that they have started the divorce process, and they’re waiting for you to do your part. This involves confirming you have received the application and whether or not you agree to the terms.

Divorce applications are full of complicated legal jargon, which can be difficult to understand. This is why we recommend working with a lawyer when responding to a divorce application. We can make sure you respond correctly – removing any hiccups and costly mistakes.

  • What is the cost of a divorce?

Unfortunately, there is no ‘set’ cost of divorce. This is due to the complexity of each case, for example, if children are involved or complicated financial arrangements.

However, every divorce includes a court fee, which is currently £612. So, there is £612 plus the solicitor’s fees.
