Yes. Most cases are resolved out of court, but if a hearing is required you will attend Sunderland County, Family, Magistrates’ and Tribunal Hearings on Gillbridge Avenue (SR1 3AP). Our solicitors will ensure you are fully prepared and supported throughout the process.
Sunderland County, Family, Magistrates’ and Tribunal Hearings is located on Gillbridge Avenue in Sunderland city centre, close to Keel Square, Sunderland City Hall and The Bridges Shopping Centre. It is around a 5–10 minute walk from Sunderland Station via Fawcett Street towards the civic quarter and Gillbridge Avenue.
From our Sunderland office at Doxford International Business Park (SR3 3XW), the court is approximately a 10–15 minute drive via the A690 towards the city centre. Nearby cafés include Starbucks on Fawcett Street, Costa Coffee in The Bridges Shopping Centre and independent favourite Love Lily on High Street West if you arrive early. If driving, parking is available at St Mary’s Multi-Storey and Sunniside car parks.
It’s important to know that you can’t start divorce proceedings until you have been married for at least 12 months. Once you have reached this milestone, you need to submit your application (either as a sole applicant or as joint applicants), also known as a Form D8. This is typically done online and currently costs £612.
If you’re not sure where to begin, our divorce solicitors can walk you through the process with ease. We’ve helped numerous couples in Sunderland with their divorce, so you’re in safe hands with us.
Unfortunately, there is no exact time to get divorced. This is due to the complexity of your situation, such as financial matters or child arrangements, which can also impact the cost of your divorce.
A divorce with minimal complications typically takes between 6-8 months. If you would like more specific advice for your divorce, reach out to our expert lawyers today.
If you’re unsure where to begin with your civil partnership dissolution, you’re not alone. There is so much information regarding divorce, but not as much for ending a civil partnership.
Here at Stowe Family Law, we have a dedicated team of civil partnership dissolution solicitors in Sunderland who will be able to guide you through the process. We stay up-to-date with the latest legal advice, so you always have expert tailored advice for your circumstances.
