Matthew has particular expertise in advising high profile families and other individuals in safeguarding their interests, including wealth protection and the negotiation of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. He also has considerable experience of resolving cases involving family farms and agricultural businesses, which often require unique and creative solutions.

In addition, Matthew is able to offer the following expert legal advice:-

  • To cohabiting couples regarding future living arrangements and property disputes
  • To samesex couples and civil partnerships

Matthew is an active member of Resolution, a national organisation of family lawyers and other professionals who advocate a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law cases where possible.

He is the current Treasurer for the West & North Yorkshire region and a key member of the committee, organising high profile seminars and events across the region, supporting family law reform and raising money for local charities. He was also the former Chair of ‘YRes’, the junior network of family law professionals operating across the Yorkshire region.

Outside of Work

Outside of work, Matthew is a keen sports fan. He supports Manchester United FC, much to the dismay of his friends and colleagues. Matthew has a passion for skiing and enjoys playing squash and golf. His other passion is international travel and he has been known to participate in extreme sports such as bungee jumping and sky diving.

Matthew also enjoys music and plays the guitar and piano. In his younger days, Matthew was a musician in an indie band but unfortunately failed to secure a major label deal or hit the charts!

Matthew otherwise enjoys the country life and spending time with his young son who keeps him busy!
